Having dropped six straight games, the Lloydminster Bobcats (22-33-3) will look for a bounce back over the weekend as they wrap-up the regular season schedule with a pair of games in Grand Prairie against the Storm (27-28-3). With a win tonight, the Bobcats would secure their postiion as the 6th seed in the AJHL's North Division. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. at the Revolution Arena. Tonight’s contest can be heard starting at 7:15 with Lloydminster Bobcats Hockey on Real Country 95.9.
Heading In: Bobcats Blanked By Cru
It was not the effort the Lloydminster Bobcats were searching for Wednesday evening at the Civic Centre. Hosting the Sherwood Park Crusaders for the final time in the regular season, the Cats were unable to get on the board in a 3-0 loss to the Cru. Sherwood Park scored once in each period, while the Cats were kept off the board despite firing 30 shots. With the loss, Lloydminster finished 1-4-1 against Sherwood Park this season.
Head to Head
So far in the season series with Grand Prairie, the Bobcats have come away with one win. Back on Remembrance Day, Carson Franklin, Chase Stephenson and Andrew Liwiski all scored their first career Junior A goals, while Tucker Scantlebury scored his first as a Bobcat in a 5-1 win over GP. However, in their other three meetings, the Storm have come away victorious with wins of 8-1, 5-3, and 5-2.
Bring on March
After a strong start to the month of February, the Bobcats will be happy to see the calendar turn to March, following a rough stretch to end the second month of the year. Despite winning three of their first four games in February and tying the Sherwood Park Crusaders for fifth place, the Bobcats have since lost six straight games to end the month. However, with March now upon us and the playoffs just around the corner, the Cats will look to generate some momentum in Grand Prairie to carry into the post-season.
