Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats in partnership with Boundary Ford and Boundary Ford Gives teamed up for Give N Goals to send $10,000 to the Lloydminster Youth Centre. Rewind to the beginning of the season when Bobcats leadership group approached the local Boundary Ford team in hopes to help our community; from the meeting the Give N Goals was re-established. For every goal the Bobcats scored this season $25 would be donated to the Lloydminster Youth Centre, if 200 goals were scored in the regular season the total would double.

Carly Pollard with Boundary Ford explained how the relationship was important to them,   “Give N Goals was a great opportunity for Boundary Ford Gives and the Lloydminster Bobcats to link arms and give back to our local Youth Centre. Their determination throughout this season to reach their 200 goals was inspiring to all members of our community and continued to showcase how they are more than a hockey team, they are leaders with purpose.”

Bobcats Captain Chad MacLean participated in the meetings setting up this community give back. Understanding the importance of how fortunate the players are, they wanted to make sure other youth in our community had the same opportunity. MacLean states “being in the position to give back to is a privilege. Having a good home life is something I took for granted and I think a lot of young people also take for granted. To give back through the foundation, giving to the Youth Centre is huge. With help from Carly Pollard hopefully we can make a positive impact on the youth of our community.”

With the recipient of this year’s Give N Goals being the Lloydminster Youth Centre, it was important for the players to know it was going to help local youth. Local player Ben Bygrove added “it is really awarding to be able to give back to the youth of the community that has done so much for me. If our team doing this can make a difference in the life of even just one kid that is the coolest thing to be a part of.” As the team has several local players like Bygrove, they also have players from near and far, Pollard added “The team as a whole shows continuous giving and devotion to their community, even if it is their home away from home, that is inspiring.”

Boundary Ford Gives sees this as a local partnership which can grow our community together, “Boundary Ford Gives has and will continue to invest in the Lloydminster Bobcats because they invest in our community” stated Pollard.

Give N Goals was a yearly tradition of Boundary Ford and Boundary Gives originally spearheaded by the late Bob Troup. Bob was an active board member of the Bobcats, a lifelong employee of Boundary Ford, and the proudest community member of what the Bobcats players represented in our community. A Legacy of Bob Troup.
