Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to announce Tegan Skehar has committed to NCAA Division I Hockey with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks for 2023-24 season.
“Tegan came into our organization as a 16-year-old and developed into one of the most reliable defensemen in our league. He has taken his game to the next level on the ice and added great leadership to our group,” stated Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube. “Tegan has put in the extra work on and off the ice and we have been able to watch his game develop to the next level. He has been a big part of our growth as an organization since coming to the Border City.”
Shekar, 19, is in his third season with the Bobcats and has 4 goals and 13 points in 52 games. In a shortened development season with the Bobcats in 2020-21, he registered 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 games. In 2019-20, during his 16-year-old campaign, Skehar registered 2 goals and 9 assists in 53 games.
Skehar is excited about his future with Alaska Fairbanks, “I am humbled and honored to commit to such an amazing program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I’d like to thank the Bobcats organization for their support and development over the past three years. I’d also like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates, trainers, and advisor for helping me along the way, as well as my billet family for making Lloydminster a second home for me. I am extremely excited about my future with the Nanooks!”
The Lloydminster Bobcats would like to congratulate the Skehar family on his commitment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks and NCAA Division I hockey. Skehar becomes the third commitment this season for the Bobcats joining Ethan Aucoin (St. Cloud – NCAA Div I) and Zafir Rawji (MRU – Usport).
