Lloydminster Bobcats Name Jaxan Hopko Team Captain
Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are proud to announce that local defenseman Jaxan Hopko has been named captain of the hockey club for the 2026-27 season!
A leader both on and off the ice, Hopko has earned the respect of his teammates, coaches, and the Lloydminster community through his work ethic, consistency, and commitment to the team’s identity. Since joining the Bobcats, he has been a key contributor in all situations, bringing a competitive edge and a team-first mindset every night.
“I grew up watching the Bobcats and learning what it means to play for this town. From a young age, this is something I always looked up to and wanted to be a part of. I remember being in the stands, hoping one day I’d get the chance to wear this jersey. Now, having the opportunity to do that and to be named captain is a huge honour. This community means a lot to me, and the support we get every night makes this team special. We’ve got a special group here, and I’m excited to give this town everything we’ve got all season long” said the newly named Captain!
Hopko’s impact extends beyond the scoresheet, as he has become a cornerstone in the dressing room and player younger teammates look up to. His passion for the game and pride in wearing the Bobcats jersey make him a natural fit to wear the ‘C’.
“Throughout my time knowing Jaxan, he has developed tremendously not only as a hockey player but as a person and teammate. He has been a staple for this team since he got here as a young kid and has become a huge part of the dressing room and bringing our group together. He will be a big part of the culture I want to build with this team and I can’t wait to continue to work with him” stated Head Coach Matt Brassard.
The Lloydminster Bobcats are confident that under Hopko’s leadership, the team will continue to build on its strong culture and compete at a high level throughout the season.
