Despite a strong pushback in the third period, the Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to come back against the Sherwood Park Crusaders in a 3-2 loss to close off the 2016 portion of the season Wednesday night.
Brady Barclay and Will Middleton provided the two goals for the Cats, while Austin McGrath made 37 saves in the loss.
Trailing 3-2 after two periods of play, the Bobcats outshot the Crusaders 11-8 in the final frame but couldn't find a way to beat Zac Klassen who stood tall in the Sherwood Park goal right down to the final buzzer.
Bobcats players will now head home for a long overdue break over the Christmas season, and will return to Lloydminster in the new year to prepare for a weekend set at the Civic Centre against the Drayton Valley Thunder on January 6th and 7th.
