Bobcats Promote Jeff Woywitka to Head Coach

Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are thrilled to announce the promotion of Jeff Woywitka as Head Coach! Woywitka, a native of Vermilion, Alberta joined the organization in December of 2022 as Associate Head Coach and Skill Development.

“I want to thank the Bobcat organization for believing in me, our goal is to continue to make our program and athletes better with development on and off the ice. I am thankful I get to be around such a great community with great hockey people and great fans, our goal is to make sure our players are prepared every day and put the best athletes we can on the ice to teach them to be pros!” said newly appointed Head Coach Woywitka.

Woywitka has an extensive playing background including 278 games in the National Hockey League where he was drafted in the first round and then went on to play with the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, and New York Rangers. His extensive playing career includes playing over 600 professional games, being named WHL Top Defenseman, a WHL Championship, and a CHL Memorial Cup Championship. After a successful playing career Woywitka moved into a coaching position with the Sherwood Park Crusaders in 2017 where he assisted the organization in having their two most successful on-ice seasons in club history.

“Jeff’s addition to our organization and community has been so impactful both on and off the ice from day one. It was evident on a daily basis this season what he offers to our players in terms of development and individual growth, and then his ability to grow the on-ice product with team play” stated Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube. “We are fortunate to have a person who played at the highest-level possible working with our players, but it is also so important how humble he is and how hard he works to be the best he can be for the players and team. He deserves the opportunity to lead our club and we are very excited for him to build on what he has established here” added Dube.

The Bobcats just finished a very successful camp season with the Prospects and Futures camps being held over the last two weekends. The staff will continue towards shaping the roster for the 2024-25 season under the guidance of Head Coach Woywitka.
