Bobcats acquire rights to local forward Austin McDonald

The Lloydminster Bobcats have acquired the rights to ‘93-born forward Austin McDonald from the Swan Valley Stampeders of the MJHL.

Originally from Turtleford, Saskatchewan, McDonald played the 2011-2012 season with the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL before being dealt to the Stampeders at the end of the season. The 19 year old forward was a top scorer for the Klippers, completing his rookie season with 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 53 games.

“We are ecstatic to have a quality player like Austin in our line-up,” says head coach and director of hockey operations Ryan Parent. “He's a player that should be a key forward in our line-up for the next two seasons.”

In exchange, the Bobcats sent the rights to’93-born forward Mitch Deacon (Port Moody, BC) to Swan Valley.

The coach says he hopes to have Austin in the lineup for this weekend’s home games against the Calgary Mustangs and Olds Grizzlys. Puck drop for both games is 7:30 PM.
