UPDATE: Due to overwhelming fan-feedback, the Lloydminster Lancers have reverted back to the team’s previous name, the Lloydminster Bobcats. This decision has been approved by the Jr. 'A' Bobcats BOARD of Directors. Happy April Fool’s!

The Jr. ‘A’ Bobcats Bored of Directors has approved an official name change that will see the team return to its original name, the Lloydminster Lancers, for the 2014-15 season.

“We’re tremendously excited,” said Lancers Governor Bryan Morrison. “This name will honour the team’s past while energizing new buzz around the Jr. ‘A’ franchise.” Originally coming to Lloydminster in 1982, the Lancers player in the SJHL for seven seasons before joining the AJHL as the Blazers for the 1989-90 season.

The team’s official colours will revert back to blue and yellow, though a third jersey with the Bobcats logo is still being planned. Souvenir supplier Focused Screen Printing has also confirmed that retro leather jackets and snap pants will be available for sale at the team’s home opener in September.
