Bobcats Unveil Three More Recruits for 2016-17 Season

The Lloydminster Bobcats are pleased to announce three new recruits who will all be joining the team in time for fall camp.

Tanner Brewster (’98), Brendan Nemes (’98) and Dawson Bacon (’98) will be vying for regular playing time when the AJHL season gets underway in September.

“We are excited to add all three players to the Bobcats roster. Brendan and Tanner have very strong offensive games and can create offence with their size and strength,” said Gord Thibodeau, Head Coach and GM. “Dawson is a strong skater and puck mover who will add mobility to our defensive unit.”

Brewster, 6’2”, 175 lbs, hails from Regina, Saskatchewan and played with the Battlefords Stars Midget AAA team last season. The 17 year-old had 30 points in 42 regular season games and will turn 18 in time for the start of the AJHL season. His 30 points included 18 goals and 12 assists, which was good enough for a top 20 finish in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League scoring. Before playing in North Battleford, Brewster was a member of the Swift Current Legionnaires from 2013-2015, where he was a teammate of current Bobcat Connor Odelein.

Bacon is the second member of last year’s Battlefords Midget AAA team who is set to join the Bobcats in 2016. The ’98 born Kindersley, Saskatchewan native played 40 games for the Stars and another three in Jr. A for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Kindersley Klippers in 2015-16. At 5’10”, 180 lbs Bacon was able to score three goals and nine assists for 12 total points as a defenceman.

Nemes is the sixth new player confirmed to be in Lloydminster when the season starts in September. A forward from Calgary, Nemes has spent his last three seasons playing for Calgary organizations, including the Northstars of the Alberta Midget AAA league. While with the Northstars he was able to score 12 goals and 8 assists for 20 points in 31 games, helping his team to a fourth-place regular season finish in the AMHL’s southern division.  Nemes has the most Jr. A experience amongst new recruits, seeing action in six games for the Calgary Canucks last season.
