Cats Pushed to Brink of Elimination Following Game 2 Loss

The Lloydminster Bobcats are down to their final life.

Following a 4-0 loss Friday night at the Scott Safety Centre, the Bobcats now find their backs against the wall, trailing the Whitecourt Wolverines two games to zero in their best of five first round playoff series.

Much like the story Thursday night, the Bobcats dug themselves an early hole with penalty trouble.

Less than a minute into the game the Bobcats were called for the first penalty of the game, and the Wolverines capitalized to jump out in front 1-0.

Whitecourt would later add to their advantage before the first period expired when Ben Vanish beat Bobcat’s goalie Bailey Brkin to make it 2-0 after one.

In the second, Jude Butler tipped home a point shot to make it 3-0 Wolverines, before the rounded out the scoring with a Tanner Foster power-play goal early in the third.

With the loss, the Cats now must win Sunday night at the Civic Centre to keep their season alive.

The Wolverines finished the game 2 for 6 on the man-advantage, while the Cats went 0 for 2.

Whitecourt went on to out-shoot Lloydminster 34-20 in the game.

Game 3 of the series will go at 7:30 Sunday night in Lloydminster.
