GAME DAY: Cats Continue Homestand as Whitecourt Rolls in to Town

Looking to bounce back from a Tuesday night home loss at the hands of the Grand Prairie Storm, the Lloydminster Bobcats (4-9-1) will continue a three-game homestand Saturday night when they host the Whitecourt Wolverines (8-9-0). Having dropped five of their last six games, the Bobcats will look to find their footing with a pair of home games this weekend, before spending next weekend on the road in the Viterra South Division. You can hear all of the action live on Real Country 95.9 with the pre-game show beginning at 7:15.Heading In:

Webb Returns to Lloydminster; Haunts Former Team

A former Bobcat returned to Lloydminster for the first time since being traded last season, and made his presence felt. Zach Webb, who had 19 points coming into Tuesday night’s contest, continued his torrent pace against his former squad using a pair of goals to lead the Grand Prairie Storm to a 5-2 win over the Lloydminster Bobcats. Mason Waite and Bekkam Willis had the two goals for the Cats, while Cale Elder made 28 saves on 32 shots in the loss.

Head to Head

Playing for the first time this season, the Bobcats and Wolverines will begin their six-game season series at the Centennial Civic Centre. Home ice was everything last season in the season series between the two teams. Both teams won all three games against each other in their home rink. However, come playoff time it was all Whitecourt, as the 3rd seeded Wolverines swept the 6th seeded Bobcats in three straight games to end the Cats season.

Kaiser’s Point Streak Snapped

Despite his team only averaging 2.6 goals per game so far this season, Bobcat’s captain Zach Kaiser has still found his way to generate offence all season long. Coming into Tuesday night’s game, the Orangeville, Ontario native had tallied at least a point in seven straight games and at least a goal in three straight games. Unfortunately, those two streaks came to an end in the loss to Grand Prairie. With eight goals and 15 points so far this season, Kaiser leads the Bobcats in both categories. He is also on pace to set a new career high for points in a season, after tallying 58 last year.
