GAME DAY: Cats Return Home Looking to Weather Storm

With a three-game southern road swing now behind them, the Lloydminster Bobcats (9-41-2) return to the Border City Wednesday night to host the Grande Prairie Storm (26-23-3). With only three home games remaining on the schedule, the Cats will be looking to start a late season surge in the friendly confines of the Civic Centre. All the action can be heard live on Real Country 95.9 beginning at 7:15.

Heading In: Power-Play Goals Propel Canucks Past Cats

Wrapping up their three-game southern road swing with a stop in Calgary, the Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to dig out of a four-goal hold despite a third period push Sunday afternoon. Visiting the Calgary Canucks for the one and only time during the season, the Cats scored two goals in the third period but ultimately fell short in a 5-2 loss. The Canucks scored four straight goals, with the fourth coming early in the final frame before Hunter Lamb and Ryley Hogan responded for the Cats, but an empty-net goal would seal their fate.

Head to Head

Capping off their six-game season series on Wednesday, the Bobcats will be battling for their first win of the season against the Storm. The Cats have come close in multiple games to knocking off Grande Prairie. Back in the Civic Centre on November 14th, Lloydminster dropped a 2-1 decision, before falling 7-6 in Grande Prairie on January 4th. Jordan Borysiuk, Breydon Berthold, Hunter Lamb and Ty Mosimann all have multiple goals against the Storm this season.

Loading Up on Locals

Continuing to find talent in their own backyard, the Lloydminster Bobcats announced Tuesday night that they had signed Midget ‘AAA’ Bobcat’s defenceman, Ben Bygrove. The news comes roughly a week after the team had announced the signing of local product, Jayven Leslie to a Letter of Intent. Bygrove has played in a pair of games with the Bobcats this season, making his AJHL debut on January 15th in Whitecourt and then playing the next day in Grande Prairie. Standing at 6’1, 181lbs, the ’02-born has three assists in eleven games with the Midget ‘AAA’ Bobcats this season. Bygrove will make his third appearance for the Cats when they host Grande Prairie on Wednesday.
