The Lloydminster Bobcats were unable to pick up a second straight win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Saturday night, as the visitors picked up a 5-1 victory at the Civic Centre.
Wilson Northey jammed home his sixth goal of the season to bring the game to 1-1 midway through the first period, but that was all the offensive output the Bobcats could generate against a stingy Fort McMurray defence. Between the pipes, Austin McGrath made 33 saves on 38 shots for the Bobcats on the night.
The Oil Barons spread their offensive output throughout the game, with a pair of goals in the first from Nicholas Leeseberg and Brandon Ralph, two in teh second from Matteo Aiello and Ralph, and one late in the third to complete the hat trick for Ralph, giving him a four point night.
After tonight's AJHL action, the Bobcats find themselves three points back of the Grande Prairie Storm and one point back of the Drayton Valley Thunder, who have two games in hand on Lloydminster.
Next action for the Bobcats is Wednesday night at the Civic Centre as the Whitecourt Wolverines come to town for the final time this season.
